May we remind you that ICOH-WOPS 2008 received a total 456 participants from 35 countries. There were 273 presentations: 76 connected with 15 symposiums, 131 held during 22 oral sessions and 66 made in the form of poster presentations. All of these presentations were evaluated by peers and were of great scientific interest.

Many thanks to Mrs. Nathalie Gauthier of the Centre de santé et services sociaux de la Vieille-Capitale, who has truly been the organizational pillar behind the conference since the fall of 2006. Her thoroughness and dedication contributed unquestionably to the quality and success of the conference.

We also want to aknowledge and thank the contribution of all our sponsors : International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), Quebec Population Health Research Network, Ministère de la Santé et des services sociaux du Québec, Public Health Agency of Canada, Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et sécurité du travail (IRSST), Standard Life, Tourism Québec and Québec city Tourism, Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST), Ministère du Travail, Université Laval, Watson Wyatt and Réseau de recherche en santé et en sécurité du travail.

We would also like to highlight the excellent job done by staff working for the permanent training centre of the University’s Faculty of Medicine. They handled registrations, logistics on the conference premises and the banquet. More particularly, we wish to thank Mrs. Carole Guérin, Mr. Patrice Lemay and Mrs. Laetitia Pujat for their outstanding contribution. Many thanks also to Mrs. Judith Lussier, Josée Nadeau and Brigitte Boyle.

We are also extremely grateful to the staff of the Institut de santé publique du Québec and Mesdames Irène Langis and Julie Trudel in particular for their support during the planning phase, and Mrs. Nathalie Hudon for overseeing the management of media coverage of the conference.

Many thanks to the contributors to different stages of the conference: Agora Communication staff for managing the summaries and the development of the website, Mrs. Mélissa Dumais, and Mrs. Janet Brownlee for translating texts, Mesdames Sarah Lépine and Marie Grandisson for revising texts, interpreters from America Interpretation enr. for the simultaneous translation of conferences and the panel, technicians from AVW-Telav for their material and computer support during the conference, and all the staff of the Hôtel Loews le Concorde for their efficiency and warm welcome.

Once again, please accept our sincerest thanks!

Welcome to Québec City!

The Third ICOH-WOPS international conference “Psychosocial Factors at Work: From Knowledge to Action” will take place in Québec City,  September 1-4, 2008. The two first International ICOH Conferences on Psychosocial Factors at Work were held in Copenhagen in 1998 and in Japan in 2005. Both conferences were highly successful attracting more than 300 international researchers in the field.

The 2008 conference will address four major themes: Preventive interventions; Disability management and Return to work; Psychological harassment at work; and Public policies on mental health at work. Papers will include mental health, musculosqueletal and cardiovascular diseases; quantitative and qualitative methodology.

We hope that you will attend the Conference and it will be a pleasure to welcome you.
